Trained at Stanford and Cornell, Dr. Darrick Antell is among the world’s most celebrated plastic surgeons. A pioneer in the development of facelift techniques, Dr. Antell’s research has been featured in a variety of publications such as Vogue, Town and Country, and Harper’s Bazaar. After conducting a landmark study on the effects of sun, stress, and smoking on aging and facelift outcomes in identical twins, Dr. Antell was honored by having his work featured at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. These contributions to medicine and science, in conjunction with his superior surgical and nonsurgical outcomes have earned Dr. Antell worldwide recognition.

A facelift, also known as a Rhytidectomy, can improve the most visible signs of aging by the removal of excess fat, the tightening of underlying muscles, and the redraping of the skin of your face and neck.

As such, the best candidate for a facelift is a man or woman whose face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well-defined. Most patients are in their forties to seventies, but facelifts can be done successfully on people of advanced age as long as they are in good health.

A facelift can make you look younger and fresher, and it frequently enhances your self-confidence in the process. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations, and discuss them with your surgeon. We understand that it isn’t always desired or possible to meet face-to-face for a consultation. This is why Dr. Antell offers virtual consultations for both those local to the NYC area, and those who would like to travel to work with him.

Dr. Antell has garnered a reputation for excellence in plastic surgery and is often called upon by patients who demand the highest quality surgical outcomes. His facelifts are performed with advanced techniques, so the outcome appears fully natural. Many of his new patients come from referral by a former patient, which speaks to how satisfied and pleased they are with the high level of care he provides.

The Mini Facelift is also known by a variety of different names, such as the s-lift, baby boomer facelift, limited-incision facelift, or mini-lift. It is generally appropriate for people who show aging in the mid-face and do not have a severe amount of excess skin around their jaw line and neck. A Mini Facelift cannot stop the aging process. What it can do is "set back the clock," improving the most visible signs of aging. A Mini Facelift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery procedures.

The Mini Facelift is particularly valuable on younger patients in their forties, fifties and secondary facelifts. It can be combined with liposuction in the neck area to give a remarkable overall improvement.

With age, the neck begins to sag, and loose folds or bands of skin and fat may become more apparent. Patients seeking facial and neck rejuvenation may consider a neck lift if they are looking to lift the loose skin of the neck.

In some cases, neck lift surgery may be performed alongside neck liposuction or other forms of neck fat removal. This is typically done in patients who experience a large degree of excess skin as a result of weight gain or localized fat deposits. If patients experience predominately loose neck skin, then skin excision and repositioning may be sufficient to achieve a younger-looking facial appearance.

Dr. Antell offers the Deep Plane Facelift procedure for both the face and neck regions. This procedure refers to a specific type of facelift in which the SMAS is lifted tighten the cheeks, jaw, and neck.

The SMAS is a layer of connective tissue underlying the skin and top facial muscles. Addressing this during a deep plane facelift can have powerful results. By tightening the SMAS, the jowls are lifted, the neck is tightened, and the cheeks are elevated.

Because it focuses on the structural factors of a patient's face, it can have results that last up to 10 years, though results can vary from patient to patient. This type of facelift represents an improvement over earlier skin-only techniques.

"This is a glowing recommendation. I asked Dr. Antell for something difficult, to remove all sagging skin from my neck, smooth my jaw line, if possible, and improve my eyes, all without it being noticeable to anyone that anything had been done. He accomplished exactly what I asked in subtle, artful, and, what I consider, remarkable ways. He is very skilled. I came to him with my ideas, and he persuaded me to change them a bit to a solution he thought would be better. He was right. There is much art to this profession. Dr. Antell knows what to do and does it well. He has an artist's touch. I am wonderfully pleased with the results. I told him that I feel liberated. I no longer have to wear eye make-up to feel presentable, and I wear scoopnecks happily. It's a big decision to let someone change our appearance and vital to find the right person to do it. I understand why Dr. Antell has operated on many TV anchors. He is also kind, full of good humor, and concerned for his patients' welfare. He is very positive. He is a pleasure. Wonderful people work with him. His anesthesiologist and nurses are highly skilled and caring. The office director and staff are helpful, accommodating, and caring. He and they make the process easy. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Antell."

"I went to Dr. Antell, and he transformed my face and my life. Not only does my face look amazing (20 years younger), but immediately after my surgery, I walked into a restaurant in the Village and met my soon-to-be husband. I am now moving to SoHo and beginning a life that I could never have dreamed of."
